Zontian Travel

Members of Zonta International have many opportunities to travel and meet women from other clubs both locally and globally with the same goals and aspirations as the members of her own club.

Club Level: Zontians are welcomed by nearby clubs for joint fundraising endeavours, attend functions hosted by other clubs, membership drives and social functions and to celebrate milestones such as anniversaries and spring workshops.

District Level: There are 32 Districts worldwide. Each District usually encompasses 40 to 50 clubs in the surrounding area. The Kitchener-Waterloo Club is in District 4, which includes clubs from Toronto to Woodstock in Ontario and in a north/south direction from Owen Sound, Ontario, to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States. Every second year, on the odd year, a club or several clubs will host a District Conference usually the last full weekend in September. All members from the District are invited and encouraged to attend this three day event. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet women from all areas in our District, from many professions and backgrounds to gain further knowledge about Zonta and enjoy fellowship and networking. The 2003 District conference was hosted jointly with the Kitchener-Waterloo Club and the Zonta Clubs of Cambridge and Guelph. The 2005 District Conference was in Rochester, NY, the 2007 District Conference was in Jamestown, NY, the 2009 District Conference was in Hamilton, ON and this years Conference is in Buffalo, NY.

International Level: Every second year, on the even year, Zonta International hosts a Convention for all the Zonta Clubs worldwide. This is an absolutely amazing gathering of women from almost seventy countries. Many of the members wear their native costumes to the convention and it is truly a site to behold. The excitement of meeting women from all over the world is an opportunity many of us do not have except through being a member of Zonta International.

Ten members of the Kitchener-Waterloo Club attended the International Convention in June 2010 held in San Antonio, TX. The 2012 convention will be held in Torino Italy. Our club has been well represented at the international conventions over the years. Recent past convention have been held in:

As a member advances in her Zonta life and serves beyond her club level, if she so desires, she can work with members of other clubs on the District Board and have the opportunity to serve with Zontians throughout the District on a regular basis. District Board members will have the opportunity to travel to other Districts and if a member is nominated to the International Board level, she will travel to many countries continuously throughout her term. All Zontians are encouraged to visit other Zonta Clubs when traveling to other countries whether she is on vacation or business.

Do Zontians have an opportunity to travel? - Yes, very much so!
