
The Zonta Club of Kitchener-Waterloo carries out fundraising activities throughout the year with the goal of distributing the proceeds to local and international programs that focus on the advancement of the status of women.
Local not-for-profit or charitable organizations may apply for a service grant. Recipients of service grants in the past two years include programs provided by:
Women's Crisis Services (Anselma House)
Community Justice Initiatives Stride Program
Eating Disorders Awareness Coalition of Waterloo Region
The Family Violence Project of Waterloo Region
Focus for Ethnic Women
The Literacy Group of Waterloo Region
Mary's Place
ROOF (Reaching Our Outdoor Friends)
YWCA Next Door Program
To apply for a service grant, organizations are asked to complete a grant application. The deadline for receipt of applications for 2010 grants is March 26, 2010.
Proceeds from the Betty Thompson Golf Classic are granted specifically for breast cancer programs and other women's health programs. In the 17 years of hosting this golf tournament the Zonta Club of Kitchener-Waterloo has provided over $690,000. to women's health programs in Waterloo Region. In the past two years the funds have gone towards:
computer assisted diagnosis technology for the mammography units at the Waterloo Wellington Breast Centre at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital;
the cardiac diagnostic program at the St. Mary's Hospital Cardiac Care Centre;
and, refurbishing the wig boutique and purchasing wigs for distribution by HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre.
Deadline for application for funds from the 2010 Betty Thompson Golf Classic is also March 26, 2010.
