The Betty Thompson Golf Classic

"Women Golfing to End Breast Cancer and Support Women's Health"

May 27th, 2010 marked the 18th year for the annual Betty Thompson Golf Classic hosted by the Zonta Club of Kitchener - Waterloo.  This premier ladies golf tournament is named to honour Betty Thompson, a dynamic charter member of our Club who was a local television personality and community champion.  Betty was diagnosed with breast cancer is 1991 and passed away in 1994.  Proceeds from this popular event are used to help support breast cancer programs and other women’s health programs in our community.

With the support of local businesses, donors and golfers, the 2010 event raised over $52,000.  The funds will be donated to: Grand River Hospital Foundation towards a digital biopsy system; to purchase camisoles for mastectomy patients for distribution through HopeSpring; towards the maintenance of the Eating Disorders Awareness Coalition of Waterloo Region help line; and to HopeSpring for the purchase of wigs.

We are proud that the proceeds of this tournament are used to support local programs in our community, which are helping to make a difference in the lives of women.

If in the future you would like to be part of this very worthwhile event through sponsorship at any level, please contact cwordley@rogers.com for more information.

Registration packages are mailed out by March 31.
Questions regarding registration please contact cat_wheeler@rogers.com
